Data Privacy as an anomaly
Is "Data Privacy" an anomaly? Especially since some people have argued that only human beings can enjoy privacy as a right?
Thank you for your question. No, I don't see it as an anomaly because some data is subject to privacy requirements and some data needs to be kept secret. So using the term distinguishes data that is subject to privacy requirements from other data that is privileged, confidential, proprietary, or a trade secret. It clarifies the type of protection the data requires. Limiting the term privacy to human rights is too limiting.
