Common Frauds related to COVID-19
What are some of the most prevalent frauds that you are seeing during COVID-19?
Personally, I have seen two types of fraud/schemes: 1) fake emails seeking donations to victims of COVID-19 and 2) fake web-sites advertising sales of products to protect against COVID-19 (i.e. masks, and hand sanitizers); however those may not be the most dangerous ones. Companies (mainly Financial Institutions) are in high alert for fraud/schemes due to COVID-19, specially phishing schemes.
I've been reading about Common Frauds that are related to COVID-19 and there are prevalent schemes such as government impersonators. In Colorado there was a group of men roaming our area dresses in black tie suits and we were informed not to answer our door if they approached as they would be trying to convince someone that they needed money to provide for COVID testing, financial relief, or medical equipment.
Even on social media, there are scammer who are pretending to be Medical doctors with the World Health Organization, asking personal information about you, trying to gain "statistics". Thankfully, it has been easier to spot scams through social media and how a message is received through tone of voice and wording of their sentences.
