Georgia Awards ADCG Member, The Point of Art Gallery.,Union Point, GA

The Georgia Tourism Foundation recently recognized The Point of Art Gallery & Studio as a Founding Producer of Distinction for 2008-2010. Anne Jenkins, the artist-owner of the gallery received a letter of congratulations from Governor Sonny Perdue.

"I'm honored to be one of only 54 businesses in the whole state to receive this distinction," Jenkins said. "The letter said the state appreciates the contribution my business makes to the state's economy."  The award by Georgia's Creative Economies Initiative acknowledged the innovativeness, leadership, local ingenuity, character, environmental and economic sustainability and the gallery's contribution to the tourism industry.

A new website promoting Georgia Made Georgia Grown Products went live on January 27 when it was presented at Tourism Day at the Capitol. Also premiered at Tourism Day were the state's 54 Founding Producers of Distinction and they are featured on the new website www.gamadegagrownproducts.org.

Union Point's Mayor Lanier Rhodes said he is proud of the gallery for getting this award. Greensboro's Genuine Georgia was also awarded this distinction and joins the Point of Art Gallery as the only other Greene County business to be chosen. Among the other recipients are Paula Deen's "Lady and Sons" restaurant, The Dilliard House and Habersham Winery.
